Student Organizations

There are multiple LGBTQ+ student organizations serving undergraduate, graduate, law, and medical students at the University of Miami. Read below to find descriptions and contact information for all of the organizations.

SpectrUM is the University of Miami's undergraduate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and ally organization. Its purpose is to foster pride through education, awareness, advocacy, and social events and to support all members of the LGBTQ community and their allies.

Greek Ally Unity is a student organization that works to create a culture of acceptance, representation, and inclusion for all members of the Greek community at the University, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. They aim to achieve this by facilitating coalitions, educational programs, and meaningful conversations surrounding LGBTQ issues in order to foster a welcoming environment between all fellow brothers and sisters.

OUTLaw seeks to advance the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community at the University of Miami School of Law and to educate the law school community. OUTLaw sponsors social, educational, political, and cultural events throughout the academic year.

GradOUT LogoGradOUT creates an inclusive space for graduate students on campus, providing educational and social opportunities for LGBTQ+ graduate students and allies. GradOUT also advocates for the concerns and needs of LGBTQ+ graduate students as they arise.

MedicOUT aims to create a more supportive environment for LGBTQ individuals on the medical campus and in the medical community, raise awareness of LGBTQ health issues, advocate for the rights of LGBTQ patients, and work with the administration to change the curriculum so that it accurately reflects the health needs of the LGBTQ population. MedicOUT welcomes and encourages involvement from allies.

BLQ LogoThe purpose of Black Leaders for the Queer Community is to provide a space for students identifying as Queer and Black to engage in activities to educate themselves about and discuss the intersections between Black and LGBTQ+ history.
