The University honors graduating LGBTQ students and allies by hosting an event that recognizes their leadership, achievements, and contributions to the campus community. Participants receive a rainbow graduation cord to wear at their commencement ceremony, alllowing them to showcase their pride as a distinguished member of the UM family.

This year's Lavender Celebration will be held on Monday, May 8th at 6:30 pm in the Newman Alumni Center.

Visit miami.edu/lavender to apply to be the student speaker at Lavender Celebration. Applicants must submit a current resume, a total of 3 academic and/or professional references, an essay of no more than 500 words expressing your interest in being the student speaker at Lavender, and a short 1-minute "audition" video. Applications are due Monday, March 20th. Finalists will be contacted shortly after for an interview.
