Diversity and Equity Education Program (DEEP)

The LGBTQ Student Center is collaborating with the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs to implement DEEP, a Diversity and Equity Education Program at the University of Miami. This educational initiative was developed in order to support the University's ongoing vision to create a sense of belonging.

The DEEP Program seeks to enhance UM's understanding of diversity, inclusion, and community. This program provides students with various opportunities to engage in dialogue across differences, enhance their leadership development and multicultural competency, and develop skills in social justice advocacy and action. DEEP also helps students to become socially and culturally aware of the diverse identities that make up our university community, and to use that knowledge in order to be change agents for our global community.

Peer Educators will facilitate workshops and presentations to groups on campus including, but not limited to: student organizations, student staff, residential colleges, commuter student groups, course, etc. Currently, there are four key areas that Peer Educators will conduct workshops on: Allyship & Solidarity, Gender & Sexuality, Race & Ethnicity, and Communication & Language.

If you are interested in becoming a DEEP Peer Educator or would like to participate in a DEEP session, please contact the LGBTQ Student Center lgbtq@miami.edu or the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at multicultural.studentaffairs@miami.edu.
